With Outlook for Mac 2011’s release, I was hopeful that a new standard was in hand. Microsoft wisely replaced Entourage with Outlook. Many Entourage users complained of database corruption and slow performance. Microsoft’s older Entourage applications, of course, earned little popularity. Mail is simple and not that complicated, and the resulting lack of complexity makes it more approachable. Creating rules or email signatures within Mail doesn’t induce knee-knocking anxiety, the way doing so might in, say, Microsoft Outlook. Composing messages, replying to email, and sorting the inbox are painless tasks. The app is integrated within the OS, loads quickly, boasts a basic but attractive interface, possesses clean and well-laid elements, and proves to be easily navigable. I’ve always been partial to OS X Mail, which should make Apple developers happy. However, your experience may differ.Įven before I began offering IT services to others, family and friends purchasing new Macs would frequently ask which email client is the best on OS X. Vendors will promise you the world and assure you its mail client (or other product) is the best. But that's the way it is in the real world, where the consulting firm I operate services hundreds of different commercial businesses and organizations. But years of technology consulting have taught me that vendors are evil. It would be easier, after all, within the hectic, ever-changing IT industry to just know I can trust what the manufacturer tells me. Sometimes, I find myself wanting to become an Apple fanboy. Enter your E-mail Address and Password, and then click Add Account. Click the plus (+) sign in the lower-left corner, and then select Other E-mail. To configure your Apple iCloud email account in Microsoft Outlook for Mac, follow these steps: Start Outlook for Mac. The best thing is that since SpamSieve is adaptive, and it doesn't run off of a database that its developers created, spammers can't change their addresses or writing style to defeat SpamSieve's effectiveness.Ĭurrently, according to SpamSieve's statistics, I'm receiving an average of 60 spam message a day, and SpamSieve has been 99.8% accurate at sorting them!Īccording to C-Command's Web site, it is compatible with Outlook. There are dozens of tricks you can use to improve your own productivity and outlook, but if you’re looking for a more objective, comprehensive fix, the best thing to do is equip your Mac with productivity apps designed to help you do more in less time. All of my spam messages get filtered into my Spam folder like magic for me to review and trash. In just a few weeks SpamSieve becomes amazingly accurate. You do the same for non-spam that shows up in your Spam folder. From then on when you get a spam message in your in-box you mark it as spam, and SpamSieve adjusts it's filters. SpamSieve automatically analyzes both samples and looks for things common to the spam that you receive, and things common to the non-spam that you receive, and it creates a series of filters to form a blacklist and a whitelist. Then you choose a bunch of your typical non-spam e-mails and mark them as non-spam. To start off, you choose a bunch of spam e-mails in your e-mail program and mark them as spam. If you want to deal with spam effectively, without any risk of losing legitimate e-mails, I can't recommend SpamSieve enough: I found the built-in anti-spam capabilities of Apple's Mail to be insufficient to deal with this. Because I have about a half dozen Web sites, which get harvested for my e-mail address by bots, I receive as many as 100 spam messages a day.
